The Department of Arabic is dedicated to imparting knowledge of the Arabic language, literature, and Islamic culture. The department aims to equip students with strong linguistic, communicative, and interpretive skills in Arabic, enabling them to engage with classical and modern texts effectively.

In addition to language proficiency, the department focuses on areas such as Qur’anic studies, Hadith, Fiqh, history, and contemporary Arab thought. Students are encouraged to develop critical thinking, research skills, and a deep appreciation of the rich heritage of the Arab-Islamic world.

Eligibility

To be eligible for admission to the BA (Hons) Arabic programme under Mahatma Gandhi University, candidates must have passed the Plus Two (Class XII) or an equivalent examination recognized by the University. In addition to this general qualification, applicants are required to have a working knowledge of Arabic and must have studied Arabic as a subject either at the Secondary (SSLC) or Higher Secondary (Plus Two) level, or in an equivalent course.
